VERMONT Before
the divorce is filed, one of the spouses must have been a resident of
Vermont for at least 6 months.
Additionally, either spouse must have been a resident for one
year before the divorce is made final. There is a 6 month waiting period
after the defendant has been served with the divorce papers before a
hearing will be held. The divorce may be filed for in any county where
either or both of the spouses reside. [Vermont Statutes Annotated; Title
15, Sections 592 and 593; Vermont Rules for Family Proceedings, Rule
4]. The
only no-fault ground for divorce in Vermont is: Living separate and
apart without cohabitation for 6 consecutive months and the resumption
of marital relations is not reasonably probable. [Vermont Statutes Annotated;
